With a vibrancy that belies its 25 years in casks, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1990 is an inspiring opening to our exclusive vintage collection, Bond House No 1. The story of this intriguing single malt begins with a small parcel of spirit, created against all odds, from one of the most challenging barley harvests in living memory. Carefully nurtured for a quarter century in the finest ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, this sublime whisky exhibits an extraordinary mellow, rounded character with heady floral and fruity notes.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1990 is a deep, luminous gold with amber highlights that make it shine with captivating intensity. In the glass, its colour reveals the maturity acquired during its long ageing, with nuances that evoke the richness of its Port casks. Its presence is elegant, like a liquid jewel that invites contemplation before taking the first sip.
NOSE: As you approach the glass, the first impression is a range of enveloping aromas. Ripe fruits dominate, with a display of dried apricots, figs and a slight plum acidity, accompanied by a soft layer of honey that provides a delicate sweetness. As you go deeper, notes of dark chocolate, warm spices such as cinnamon and a subtle touch of toasted oak appear. It is a perfume that constantly evolves, offering layers of complexity that invite you to explore every corner of its aroma. A delicate hint of nutmeg and a vanilla base add a sense of luxury and sophistication.
TASTE: On the palate, this whisky is impressively smooth, but with a complexity and depth that unfolds as you enjoy it. The texture is silky, almost creamy, embracing the palate with palpable elegance. The fruity notes that were perceived on the nose remain, with apricot and plum carried by a subtle base of caramel and toffee. The influence of the Port becomes more evident, with a spicy touch reminiscent of orange peel and soft oak that provides structure without detracting from lightness. The finish is long and persistent, leaving an aftertaste that combines dried fruits and a slight sweetness that slowly fades, inviting another sip.
