Extra-matured in superior French barriques which previously held wines such as those of the Muscat and Sémillion grapes, the delectably rich single malt whisky honours the splendour of the Cadboll Cup. This enigmatic wine cup, which entwines Scottish artistry and mysterious French influences in its design, was treasured for generations at our Highland home, near the Glenmorangie Distillery. That shared heritage is celebrated in a whisky of tempting, dessert-like flavours, which wonderfully hint at the sweet wines of the past that the Cadboll Cup might once have held.

TASTING NOTES

COLOR: At first glance, Glenmorangie The Cadboll Legends presents a bright golden colour, with amber reflections reminiscent of the sun filtering through an antique crystal. It is a whisky that, from the first moment, shows its refinement and promise of a rich and complex experience. Its texture in the glass is smooth, with a slight glow that denotes a carefully executed maturation.

NOSE: The first olfactory impact of this whisky is soft and enveloping. The initial fragrance brings to mind ripe fruits: juicy plums and red cherries, complemented by a sweet layer of honey that evokes warmth and softness. As it is aerated, the bouquet opens up, revealing even greater complexity. Delicate aromas of creamy vanilla appear, followed by a hint of cinnamon reminiscent of a homemade dessert. Oak, influenced by the maturation process in casks that previously held red wine, brings a subtle but distinctive dimension: a light hint of dried fruit and a delicate smokiness reminiscent of seasoned wood, all framed by a background of soft spices.

TASTE: When tasting it, Glenmorangie The Cadboll Legends unfolds with a smoothness that envelops the palate. Notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, mingle with the warmth of a slowly melting golden caramel. The texture is rich and velvety, allowing the whisky to glide smoothly. At the centre, a hint of liquid honey appears, which merges harmoniously with a slight influence of red wine, showing a perfect integration of the oak casks and their aging in that unique environment. The oak in its flavour is elegant and not dominant; it adds a complexity reminiscent of aged wood, with light hints of spices such as nutmeg and white pepper. As the whisky progresses towards the finish, it leaves a warm, lingering sensation on the palate, with a slightly spicy aftertaste reminiscent of the subtle touch of wood, accompanied by a soft echo of dried red fruits and a residual sweetness that invites continued enjoyment.
