Ardbeg Drum is a limited and special edition from the renowned Ardbeg distillery, launched in 2019 to celebrate Ardbeg Day. This whiskey stands out for its unique maturation process, which combines American oak casks with a second aging phase in casks that previously contained rum, sourced from Central America and the Caribbean. This double maturation provides an exceptionally complex flavor profile, where the characteristic Ardbeg smokiness and earthiness merge with tropical fruit notes and a spicy sweetness. A whiskey that surprises and captivates lovers of innovation and tradition.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: A deep golden with amber hues, reflecting its time in oak barrels and the influence of rum on its maturation.
NOSE: The first impression is an explosion of creamy smoke and peat, characteristic of Ardbeg, accompanied by a sweet and fruity touch. Subtle notes of ripe pineapple, banana and a toasted caramel background are perceived, evoking the warmth of the rum. In the background, spices such as cinnamon and a slight hint of wood peek through.
TASTE: The palate starts with peaty power, followed by an unexpected, almost molasses-like sweetness that mingles with tropical fruit notes. The texture is rich and enveloping, while the touch of rum glides smoothly over the smoky flavor, perfectly balancing the profile with a long, spicy finish, echoes of dried fruit and a slight saline touch.
