Yellow Chartreuse is characterised by its sweetness, spicy aromas and natural colour of 130 plants, flowers, bark, roots and spices.
Its production is significantly different from Green Chartreuse and requires several weeks of work in several stages:
- Milling carried out by the monks in the machine room of the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
- Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Different types of maceration to extract the active principles of the plants and give the liqueur its natural colour.
It then ages for a long time in oak barrels before bottling, and continues to evolve and develop its complexity in the bottle.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The Yellow Chartreuse is presented in a vibrant golden hue, evoking the softness of an autumn sun. Its bright, translucent color invites contemplation and reflects the complexity hidden within.
NOSE: Upon approaching the nose, the liqueur reveals an enveloping aromatic complexity, where floral notes combine with a delicate touch of honey and ripe fruit. Subtle nuances of spices stand out, with a slight echo of fresh herbs that provide a sensation of freshness in the background. The fragrance, although not as intense as that of the Green Chartreuse, is captivating in its softness.
TASTE: On the palate, the Yellow Chartreuse offers a harmonious and well-balanced experience. The sweetness of the honey blends with the softness of the herbs, creating a sensation of softness and warmth. As it develops, light flavors of flowers and fruits emerge, with a delicate touch of spices that add depth without overloading the palate. Its finish is long and pleasant, leaving a slight herbaceous persistence that invites you to continue tasting.
