BLEND
This is our very first Single Estate Agave Tequila made from agaves exclusively sourced from a small mountain in Los Altos de Jalisco called "El Cerro del Viboreo."
This extraordinary tequila was created by blending an añejo tequila aged for more than 14 months in casks previously used for American whiskey with tequilas aged in first-use American oak casks having light and medium charring.
Its notes allude to the most iconic flavors found on offerings during Día de Muertos. Its aroma has notes of candied orange peel, agave syrup, and almond. Its flavor is complex with notes of citrus, clove, roasted coffee, and orange blossom, with a prolonged orange peel aftertaste.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The Clase Azul Día de Muertos 2021 dazzles with a deep amber color, as vibrant as the sunset on a Mexican afternoon. Its warm golden tone is illuminated by reddish flashes that evoke the richness of the agave that originated it. The texture of its liquid, as it moves gently in the glass, reflects its careful aging process, inviting a visual experience as complex as it is pleasant.
NOSE: As you bring the glass closer, an aromatic explosion is released that envelops the senses. Initially, the sweet and comforting aromas of vanilla and agave honey give way to a complexity of floral notes, like a field of wildflowers in full bloom. As the air mixes with the tequila, subtle hints of toasted wood and oak emerge, which intertwine perfectly with a slight presence of ripe fruits, such as red apple and juicy pear. This combination creates an enveloping sensation, as if we were entering a landscape of typically Mexican aromas, intertwined with earth and tradition.
TASTE: Upon taking a first sip, Clase Azul Día de Muertos 2021 presents itself with an impressive smoothness that caresses the palate. Its creamy and velvety texture unfolds slowly, allowing the flavors to evolve with each second. Notes of caramel and dulce de leche blend perfectly with the deep flavors of cooked agave, creating a harmony that highlights the richness of the distillate. As the tequila settles in the mouth, the presence of wood becomes more noticeable, providing a complexity that is balanced with a touch of light spices. The finish is long and warm, leaving a trace of smoothness that lingers, with a subtly fruity and slightly toasted aftertaste that invites you to continue enjoying and exploring.
DECANTER
The golden artwork on the decanter depicts Catrinas (elegantly dressed skeletons) enjoying a feast of the most iconic Día de Muertos dishes. The front is adorned with a handcrafted, gold-plated metal ornament made by Mexican artisans.
