Our mellow beginnings.
First released more than 175 years ago by our founders, the original Glenmorangie 10 year old was known for its mellow tones and delicacy of flavour. All these years later, The Original remains at the heart of everything we do. Like home, we carry with us, no matter how far we travel. And every time we return, we discover something new.
To give Original a delicious, go-anywhere finesse, we make it in our giraffe-high stills, then we age it 10 years in bourbon casks to absorb all manner of delectable flavours. The result is a smooth whisky which welcomes you with a rush of citrus, then holds your attention with layers of luscious flavour, from orange to honey and creamy vanilla, with bursts of peach. We are constantly embarking on new sensory journeys, yet we always come home to Original.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The Glenmorangie 10 Year Old presents a radiant golden colour, similar to the soft light of a sunset. This warm and bright hue is a reflection of its careful maturation in American oak casks, giving it a brightness that captivates the eye before it even approaches the palate.
NOSE: On first approach, a fresh and captivating fragrance unfolds, with an explosion of green fruits, such as crisp apple and juicy pear, that immediately awaken the senses. As it opens up, delicate hints of soft vanilla and acacia honey are perceived, creating an enveloping and sweet sensation. In the background, a whisper of toasted almond and a light floral fragrance emerge, bringing a level of complexity that invites further exploration. The whole is clean, balanced and deeply aromatic.
TASTE: Upon tasting, Glenmorangie 10 Year Old reveals its signature smooth and creamy character, with a texture that glides elegantly across the palate. Fruity flavours, reminiscent of green apple and ripe orange, merge with a delicate malt sweetness, while a subtle hint of oak appears as a well-integrated background. Notes of almond and a light hint of nut confirm the complexity of its profile, which is not overly heavy, but intriguing enough to maintain interest. The finish is long and comforting, leaving a gentle warmth with echoes of vanilla and a hint of spice, inviting you to take another sip.
