TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The Lagavulin 8 Years presents an intense golden colour, with slightly amber reflections that capture the light in a fascinating way. Its warm and bright tone reflects a controlled maturation, where youth remains intact, but the barrel gives it a subtle depth. This colour conveys a feeling of elegance and vivacity, inviting you to discover what is to come.
NOSE: As you approach the glass, the first impact is of an enveloping turbidity, typical of Islay whiskies. A combination of marine smoke and wet earth is perceived, which quickly mixes with a characteristic saline note, evoking the coastal breeze of the island. As you delve deeper into the nose, nuances of dried fruits emerge, such as almonds and walnuts, with a slight touch of spice, all supported by a slightly sweet base. An olfactory profile full of complexity and energy, which offers new layers of discovery with each inhalation.
TASTE: On the palate, Lagavulin 8 Years unfolds with a robust, but balanced presence. Initial smoothness gives way to a smoky complexity that fills the palate, as saline notes and a hint of dried fruit combine with a light sweetness that softens the impact of the peat. Its body is dense and creamy, with a texture that invites you to enjoy its persistence. As it moves across the palate, the smoky character and salinity intensify, leaving a dry, long and warm aftertaste that lingers in the mouth, recalling the very essence of Islay.
