After more than 20 years of analysis and experimentation, Guidalberto, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, is now a wine with a clear temperament, a good interpretation of the territory. It adopts a younger style that seeks fragrance and sweetness on the palate, characteristics that Merlot can offer even with a relatively short ageing period.
"It has a satisfying drinkability, with its own personality different from Sassicaia, but similar in taste and elegance. Its complexity and structure determine its great potential for ageing and refinement over a long period of time."
At the end of malolactic fermentation the wine remains in tank for about 3-4 months and temperatures are kept at around 10°C. Decanting is carried out periodically to remove sediment. The wine is then aged in wood, in French oak barrels previously used for Sassicaia and Guidalberto, for an average period of 6 to 8 months. At the end of the ageing in wood, the wine returns to the steel tanks where the temperature is stabilised for about 20 days at around 4-5 ° C for the necessary tartaric stabilisation, before bottling.
COMPOSITION
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The Guidalberto 2019 presents an intense and vibrant red color, with violet flashes on the edges that show its youth and freshness. The layer is of medium-high intensity, clear and bright, suggesting a well-made wine. As it moves in the glass, its good density and viscosity are observed, which anticipates a good body and structure in the mouth.
NOSE: When you bring the glass closer, the first impact is a clean and expressive aromatic bouquet, in which notes of fresh red fruit predominate, especially ripe cherry, raspberry and hints of wild strawberries. As the wine breathes, additional layers of complexity open up: deeper aromas of black plum and blueberry appear, along with a light balsamic note reminiscent of rosemary and thyme. The subtleties of the oak, the result of its aging, provide a delicate touch of vanilla, soft tobacco and a slight hint of sweet spices such as cinnamon and black pepper. This aromatic range is perfectly balanced, promising a rich and pleasurable sensory experience.
TASTE: On the palate, the Guidalberto 2019 is a wine of great freshness and dynamism, thanks to a vibrant acidity that provides vitality and structure. The tannins are fine and well integrated, offering a silky texture that coats the palate without being heavy. The red fruit remains in the foreground, complemented by more complex flavors reminiscent of black plums and a hint of ripe blackberry. As the wine unfolds, the spicy notes already sensed on the nose emerge, such as a light touch of black pepper and a slight smoky sensation of oak, which blends harmoniously with a presence of bitter cocoa. The finish is persistent and elegant, with an aftertaste that leaves a fresh and balsamic sensation, inviting you to continue enjoying its complexity.
