A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and occasionally a small amount of Petit Verdot to best represent the complex and elegant terroir found in Bolgheri. This wine has been produced since 1990 from vineyards on alluvial soils whose composition ranges from clay-sand to clay-loam with rocky deposits known as “scheletro”.
TASTING NOTES
COLOR: The wine is presented in a deep, almost impenetrable red colour in the glass, dazzling with its intense ruby hue. As the wine moves, a slight violet hue can be seen at its edges, reflecting its youth and excellent concentration. Its dense, bright colour promises an equally robust and complex sensory experience.
NOSE: On the nose, this wine displays an aromatic complexity that invites you to discover successive layers of aromas. The first impression is dominated by an explosion of ripe black fruits: plums, blackberries and currants that intertwine with notes of fruit compote and a slight hint of dried herbs, evoking the freshness of the vineyard. As the wine breathes, subtle spicy aromas appear, such as cloves and black pepper, accompanied by a delicate presence of cocoa and tobacco. The perfectly integrated touch of French oak adds a soft elegance, along with a mineral note reminiscent of the calcareous soil of the Bolgheri coastal region. The complexity is profound, making clear the great potential of this wine to evolve over time.
TASTE: On the palate, this is a full-bodied wine with plenty of personality, its structure built from fine yet firm tannins that offer a soft and enveloping texture. The acidity is well balanced, bringing freshness and dynamism to the whole, allowing the ripe black fruit flavours, such as blackberry and plum, to remain vibrant on the palate. The spicy nuances and hint of cocoa perceived on the nose carry over harmoniously to the taste, enriching the complexity of the wine. As the wine develops on the palate, additional layers of toasted oak and a delicate hint of tobacco emerge, combining with a light minerality, typical of the Bolgheri terroir.
